WHO'S THIS and WHAT'S THAT
The following article appeared in the Searchlight Messenger in 1914. Since we have never heard of a place called Susann in Washington county, we would like to know if anyone out there remembers where this was located in Washington County. Hope someone will be able to help. Editor.

FIRE DESTROYS STORE
Property of Henry KEIFER at Susann Was Destroyed Early Monday
Reports reached Marissa Monday that the store, residence and dance hall of Henry KEIFER in Washington County the place known as Susann was destroyed by fire early Monday morning. It seems that practically nothing was saved.
The Keifer establishment, a general store, supplied a large circle of farmers with merchandise, and was a market for their produce. It was a modest establishment but from all accounts, was a good paying business. Mr. KEIFER, owned the property farmed a little on the side, and conducted the business with only his family as help. It is hoped that his losses were protected by insurance, and that he will soon be able to resume business.

Below is a Marissa School picture from 1905. We do not know which class. Can you identify anyone in the picture? Take a close look! One of these might be an ancestor of yours.

Please return to this page often as we hope our viewers can quickly give us the answer. We will post new pictures regularly. Hopefully we will not need to re-post any pictures in the future.
As a reminder: Help the future generations by going through your old pictures and identify the people. Do not write their names on top of the picture. Turn the picture over, place it on a hard surface and lightly print the names on the back of the picture.
Caution: Some types of ink will penetrate the photo paper and ruin the picture over time.
NEVER WRITE WITH A BALL-POINT PEN. They can leave an impression on the face of the picture.
Thank you for your help.
